Over the moon and so grateful for the accreditation of two years of structural funding by Gemeente Utrecht to Sounds Like Touch foundation!!! This means that we can be a platform for artists and designers in and around Utrecht and carry out our very cool plan called ‘Tactology Lab – interfaces of artistic expression’ and many more.

More to be read about our plans soon on www.soundsliketouch.com

Thanks a lot to Gemeente Utrecht for investing and believing in our plans, operating as such a new organization in Utrecht! And for the big help of Rens Machielse, Rob van Rijswijk, Marisa Tempel and Klaas Hernamdt.

My performance at ADE (Amsterdam Dance Event) at the 21st of October (ADE’s only ‘live’ event with real flesh-and-blood audience) in the Beurs van Berlage was captured by Remko de Waal for NRC Handelsblad and was published in the paper version of the national newspaper on October 26th. Thank you Marc Schots for spotting me 😀

Interview (English!) iii published in Jegens & Tevens

In the end of April this year during my residency at iii in The Hague, an article of an interview with me by Cybil Scott was published in the independent online contemporary art magazine Jegens & Tevens. It’s about me and my work, so if you always wanted to know why I’m making strange musical creatures, this is one chance. Best question is definitely the last one. Have fun reading it here!

Guide on (writing for) Bellyhorn in the making!

I’m pleased and glad to have Mieke van Dam, composer, flutist, theremin player and 4th-year-music student, as my intern since October 2017. She’s currently putting the finishing touches to a guide she’s been putting together on (writing music for) Bellyhorn. The guide should make it easier for composers to create pieces including the Bellyhorn as an instrument. Up to now, only myself or people I know personally were able to make stuff with the Bellyhorn. Of course, Bellyhorn is still the only Bellyhorn in the world and one would need the physical instrument to work out their ideas, but at least we hope to lower the threshold for new collaborations in the near future. The guide will be published on this website within a few weeks from now.

Bellyhorn has won its first prize!

It was picked as ‘best installation’ at the NIME Conference in Copenhagen last week. It’s been great to expose it to so many colleagues (counting the times I’ve washed the mouthpieces, at least 150 people have been trying it out…!), thanks a lot for hugging and playing!
